The Oak Room At Tylney Hall (Hampshire) Reviewed

One of the best ways to avoid Autumnal rain and Winter chills is with a luxurious, refined and exquisite dining experience. If that is something that appeals to you, then The Oak Room at Tylney Hall (Hampshire), offers distinctly British fine dining within a sophisticated setting, therefore making it an ideal dining experience for foodie fans at this time of year.

Named after the restaurant’s rich oak panelling, the Oak Room has the ideal atmosphere for a romantic Autumnal and Winter experience, thanks to tasteful lighting and a feeling of tranquil serenity throughout. Topped with a high domed ceiling and providing views of Tylney Hall’s beautiful gardens, there is a lot to be enjoyed here.

The menu, which has been carefully honed by Executive Head Chef: Michael Lloyd, focuses on seasonality of British ingredients at the heart of its dishes. There is also an attentiveness to the wine matching here, with food and wine combinations working in perfect harmony. One of the starters we enjoyed during our visit particularly embodied the elegance and well-balanced dishes that the restaurant claims to offer. Cured smoked salmon with cucumber, avocado, jersey royals and mussel was wonderfully aesthetically and full of flavour. The cucumber cutting through the smoked salmon and the mussel flavour gently enhancing the dish’s overall seafood slant.

But that’s not all, when it came to our main, the Devonshire chicken breast danced and sang with tastes of Autumn. Accompanied by caramel onions and morel mushrooms, there was a delectable earthiness to the dish that evoked a strong seasonal feel.

To finish off our meal, we enjoyed a refreshing and delicate classic lemon tart with raspberry and a crème fraiche sorbet. Indulgent and yet elegant all at once, this was the perfect way to end what was a superb meal.

Our experience was courtesy of BuyAGift, who offer a three course dinner for two, coffee and petit fours for £95.
