SOCIeTY Bar & Restaurant, Blackfriars – Review

Our latest review took place at the new and highly acclaimed Society Bar & Restaurant in Blackfriars, London. The venue is just minutes walk from the station and tucked down a little alley in the heart of London with a quaint outside seating area. The bar has a capacity for 400 people and is probably best known for its grand selection of cocktails mixed by their very own mixologist.

We sat outside (lucky for us England was hot and dry that day) and soaked up the cosmopolitan atmosphere and a few cold beers. Inside the restaurant is a very impressive bar cocktail lounge and a contemporary gallery kitchen – all with an industrialised cool feel to it.

Menus are seasonal and with lots of selection, the Summer menu was certainly pretty spectacular. We opted for the scallops and Crispy porkbelly salad with pork fat croutons to start, Crumbed Cornish whiting and Chargrilled sirloin steak with red wine butter, and créme brulee to finish. Al delicious and certainly enough to fill you up.

Two key things that stick out about Society; the service we received was exceptional and the prices very reasonable for the quality of the food.

Another bonus about Society is that the restaurant transforms to more of a club the later it gets. The bar has a 2.30am licence, so you can enjoy a quiet relaxing meal – then head into the evening after a few cocktails and dance the night away!

Thumbs up for Society, ‘almost’ fine dining at an affordable price.
