Gigaset – Two of the best DECT phones available

I have used a trusty Gigaset for around 5 years now and despite a few knocks and drops, the phones have never let me down. Bearing in mind these were purchased 5 years ago, the phones have been brilliant, yet these days maybe lacking in the tech `wow` department – they are getting on a bit.

Gigaset have released some new models and two have really caught my eye. After a trial, it is pretty clear that these Gigasets are two of the best DECT phones available right now.

`Best` does not do the phones justice. Superb / Innovative / Stylish / Awesome (and so on) seem more fitting.

Starting with the S820A, this is a phone packed with features and also a world first – It has touchscreen navigation as well as standard button navigation making it the world`s first DECT phone with hybrid navigation.

But that is just the start:

This all rounder of a phone comes with a 2.4` touchscreen as well as the standard keypad. You will find yourself switching between the two for different tasks.

It comes with an answering machine built in, with up to 55 minutes recording time. The playback delivers crystal clear audio. You can store up to 500 vcard entries, with 4 numbers max per entry. Yep, this phone can store a max of 2000 numbers!

Other functions that will impress are Quick Sync and Bluetooth© for contact synchronization (including outlook for example!), downloads of picture and sound files, alarm clock with snooze and a very smart energy saving function depending on how close the phone is to the transmitter.

Oh, and a massive talk/standby time of up to 20/250 hours!

A simply amazing home or business use phone, and certainly one of the best DECT phones available right now.

And now onto the SL910, which could be described as the S820A`s better looking bigger brother! With looks similar to an iPhone, this has the `wow factor` before you have even used it.

What you get with the SL910 is a home `smartphone`, a phone that offers so much more than you might expect – as well as looking as hot as it does! The touchscreen is fully intuitive and measures up to 3.2`. Anyone used to a touchscreen smartphone will appreciate this ease of use being replicated into their home phone.

The SL910 will also display a screensaver picture show by downloading photos, basically a digital slideshow of your favourite images.

One function that really will make new parents sit up is the room monitoring function which notifies you when a certain noise level has been reached, making the perfect baby monitor.

The Gigaset SL910 also lets you fully customize your ringtone melodies with downloads of sound files. The SL910 also has the same eco credentials as the S820A and also has full Bluetooth capability.

A home smartphone that delivers on both performance and looks – simply stunning. Anyone who has had the pleasure of trying these models will agree that they are two of the best DECT phones available.

Good work Gigaset, you have me for another five years, at the very least!
