Hernö Navy Strength Gin

Hernö is a world-renowned artisan gin distillery from Sweden and they are at the top of their tree when it comes to gin.  Their Navy Strength gin is batch distilled in a 250 copper still named Kierstin and is done so using only organic wheat. It packs a punch, as well as finely balanced flavours and aromas. On the nose expect a hit of freshness, herbs and pine.

If your olfactory senses are up to scratch you may even get hints of daisies!  Although a high-strength gin, it doesn’t overpower with flavour, in fact it’s extremely palatable and highly drinkable.  Highly recommended! Order yours here.

Brockmans is touted as the ‘Properly Improper Gin’ and apparently is unlike any other gin you have tasted before. We have to say, it does provide a welcome, yet subtle, marriage of citrus, blackberries and blueberries.

Kyrö Gin

Kyrö Distillery Company, from Isokyrö, Finland, produces the finest rye gins made in an old dairy.

We love the backstory and history of this gin! Created by the Kyrö Distillery Company, this Finnish producer of fine gin and whisky started in a sauna in 2012. Finnish through and through, Kyrö uses 100 percent Finnish rye to produce rye gin and rye whisky.

To give you an idea of the fun and personality behind this gin, on the brand website, Kyrö ask fans “Have you ever stood barefoot on a misty meadow after a sauna, or run naked through a field of rye? We have – and we’ve captured these moments in our Kyrö Gin.”

The jovial nature of the brand shouldn’t let you question the quality though, as this is a beautifully clean, award winning gin. 100% Finnish rye and locally sourced botanicals give this gin a real sense of place. Birch leaves and meadowsweet give this a fresh, fragrant feel that may perhaps scream more of Finnish Summer than Winter, but it’s a wonderful choice for any gin fan all year round.

Available to buy from independents across London and online at www.kyrodistillery.com. Priced from £29.95.

Amarula African gin

Amarula Gin is perhaps not as intricate or complex as some gins on the list but a level of high level simplicity, with botanical and purity well delivered, is often welcomed.

Expect gentle juniper notes, subtle orange blossom and unique peppery Ghanaian grains of paradise perfectly complement the exotic marula fruit. The gin is fresh, vibrant and ideal for a top notch tonic to match.

But that’s not all, each bottle sold means £1 goes to the Amarula Trust giving much needed support to elephant conservation. Read more about this beautiful gin here.
