The Prestigious Bob Bob Ricard Afternoon Tea Treat!

I had never `done` afternoon tea before until yesterday and after debating beforehand about where to go it was suggested I try out Soho`s Bob Bob Ricard. With a quirky name like Bob Bob Ricard I really wasn`t sure what to expect, I checked it out online but this restaurant didn`t give much away so I made assumptions that this place must be highly exclusive !

As we had been booked in for afternoon tea I was expecting this English restaurant to have a quintessentially British feel but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into what looked like an aristocratic art deco style French brasserie.

We sat in one of the booth style blue leather seats right by the window and we liked the fact that we could watch the world go by while sipping our pink champagne without passers by glancing in. After our sparkling fizz we opted for the appropriate choice of breakfast tea to drink with our savoury and sweet selections.

When presented with our very own shiny chrome cake stand I have to say the bottom tier of bite size sandwiches didn`t look all that appetising but within the very first mouthfuls was a burst of flavoursome fillings. Our favourite sandwiches included the coronation chicken on carrot and coriander bread and the ham and mustard on tomato bread, which we polished them off in no time!

The middle tier presented a scone selection of plain and fruit scones, thick clotted cream and Wendy Brandon homemade strawberry jam – this plate of sweetness was one I had been waiting to try and it didn`t disappoint – this course was divine.

The top tier consisted of colourful miniature cakes that looked very tempting but with a satisfied tummy and the waistline on my skirt near to bursting I just couldn`t even manage a small taste.
With having a more savoury palette these days I would have liked a greater selection of sandwiches and less sweetness but nonetheless it was a fabulous way to spend a long drawn out lunch.
