The price tag of £11,500 ($23,000) is merited by the quality of the workmanship. The design is based on the traditional Carlton House desk, commissioned by the Prince of Wales in the late 18th century and named after the Prince Regent’s London residence – Carlton House.

The table can be made to order in light or dark walnut and includes two spectacular drop lids. The curved wings can be propped up using silver plated legs, which are designed to mimic butterfly antennae. Each desk can take up to ten weeks to craft.

Jaume Tresserra made his name when his Casablanca armchair appeared in the original Tim Burton Batman movie. He is now widely regarded as one of the world’s most sought after interior designers. If you’re looking to book him in for an interior revamp – bear in mind you probably won’t get much change out of £100,000 ($200,000).
