The Landmark Hotel, London

Staying at the Landmark hotel is a truly romantic, atmospheric and warm five-star hotel experience. The architecture, and in particular the sheer scale of the entrance hall and Winter Garden restaurant, is a sight to really enjoy. Not ashamed to indulge in British grandeur and pomp, there are high ceilings, sweeping stone staircases and a general whiff of luxury. Sprinkle this with helpful and friendly staff, luxurious rooms and a top restaurant, this hotel is a personal favourite.

After a long day in the big smoke, unwinding in the Executive Corner Suite room was a welcome treat. These rooms are large – 750 feet square no less! If I had a clowder of cats, I would have no trouble winging all of them. As you would expect these rooms allow you to combine work with play;they do so by incorporating both an executive desk and full internet connectivity, with two seat-sofas and armchairs for more leisurely endeavours. The bath room is also a playground of mod cons, with a large classic bath, walk in shower and the ever popular `his` and `hers` sinks. For in-room entertainment there is also a 42 inch TV with 70 channels, an iHome system to play out your own music and a Nespresso machine. Visitors to the hotel also have the option of relaxing at The Landmark Spa & Health Club. Here you will find sanarium and Monsoon showers, steam rooms, relaxation rooms, a fully loaded gym and elegant swimming pool.

Dining at The Winter Garden

The 2 AA Rosette Winter Garden restaurant (as you can see below), is an absolutely stunning area in which to dine, relax and take in the romantic ambiance. Even though we visited on a chilly Autumn day, the high vaulted glass ceilings, warming lighting and wafting notes of piano music made for an enchanting atmosphere. Aptly named, the restaurant does indeed bring all the delightful memories and feelings of summer to the heart of your experience – no matter what time of year it is.

The dining menu at the Winter Garden is an exploration of British Cuisine and all its seasonal produce. To start we particularly enjoyed the Lobster Risotto (£13), which worked wonderfully with the accompanying saffron and watercress. All in all, this was a really lavish and indulgent starter. The main menu is also studded with British classics, such as Lemon Sole and Chips, Cotswold Lamb and the inventive twice baked British cheese soufflé. The Cotswold lamb (£24) was to die for thanks to a herb crust that was simply packed full of flavour. Quite simply, it was a melt in the mouth delight. Dining at the Winter Garden is a real treat.

Every Tuesday to Saturday, between now and the 8th December, you will be able to sample Michelin Starred Chef Mark Poynton`s `A Taste of Alimentum`. This seasonal gourmet celebration is not to be missed, so book now to save disappointment.
