Orton Hall – The best luxury hotel in Peterborough

Set just outside the city of Peterborough in Orton Longueville lies Orton Hall, a 17th century manor house which was once the home to the Marquesses of Huntly.

Best Western have just upgraded this luxury hotel in Peterborough to a `Best Western PLUS` hotel. It`s easy to see why. The facilities are in abundance and modern, the choice is varied and current.

Perfectly placed in Cambridgeshire, in 20 acres of conservation parkland, this is the place to come to to `get away from it all`. And that`s exactly what myself and partner did.

During the stay, before our meal, my partner had four key beauty treatments at the Imagine spa within the courtyard leisure facilities. All four treatments were performed expertly by the lovely Stacy, and the results were very impressive (They managed to make my partner even more stunning!)

So with two hours to kill, what was I going to do? And here lies the reason why Orton Hall is the best luxury hotel in Peterborough – The choice. Do I!!

1) Take a stroll around the huge grounds
2) Go for a swim in the leisure facility
3) Enjoy an award winning guest ale at the adjoining Ramblewood inn
4) Explore the beautiful church also on the grounds, built in 1200`s.
5) Have a glass of Champagne in the library bar
6) Check my emails at the pc for guests at reception
7) Get hot and not bothered at all in the sauna
8) Learn about the history of Orton Hall on the history board within the hotel

Guess what? I did all of these! (and one more than once)

Orton Hall is the perfect weekend city break hotel which offers treats for both him and her. The buildings are historically wonderful with clever uses for the modern world (The Ramblewood Inn used to be the stables) and the facilities faultless.

A hotel with such high standards should have staff of the same calibre. Often, a stay in a luxury hotel can be marred by poor service. This was not the case at Orton Hall. Every single staff member was polite, professional and totally accommodating, leading by example was duty manager Steve who looked after us perfectly.

The hotel is all about giving you choices. The food is the same – an easy meal in the Ramblewood inn or an exquisite gourmet feast in the wood panelled Huntly restaurant. The chef at The Huntly needs to be commended for the wonderful meal we had. I noticed lots of non residents dining here – always a good sign.

A special mention to the wonderful waitress Jade, possibly the nicest waitress I have ever encountered. Jade would sum up Orton Hall best – warm, friendly, professional and just lovely!
