Five Star Luxury Hotel, Pullman Phuket Arcadia, Naithon Beach, Phuket, Thailand Review

Arriving at the newly built Pullman Phuket Arcadia takes around 15 minutes from the airport making it an attractive first port of call for any holidaymakers looking for sun, sea and buckets of laid back chic. Book the hotel’s own limousine service to collect you from the airport and arrive in style.

The first thing that hits you is the scale of the Pullman Phuket Arcadia with its 277 rooms (270 consist of Deluxe, Grand Deluxe, Ocean and Grand Ocean, then another 7 which are Pool Villas). Its imposing positioning on what is effectively a cliff face offers with far reaching views of the turquoise Andaman Sea. The rooms available are varied, but if your budget can stretch to it we certainly recommend you book yourself a Deluxe double with an ocean view, waking up to views of the coastline and lush greenery gives you that immediate ‘I need to pinch myself’ feeling.

As the hotel is just 1 year old (launched February 2013), the interiors and quality of workmanship are easy to spot. The Pullman Phuket Arcadia definitely competes with the other 5 star hotels on the island. Our stay was for 3 nights but it is easy to see why families as well as couples spend their entire vacation here.

The hotel`s facilities are comprehensive and have been carefully thought out for the various categories of traveller that the Pullman attracts from every corner of the earth. There’s a fairly small but adequate gym kitted out with the latest TechnoGym equipment (we used the weights, running machine and cross trainer each morning, which made our foodie appetites all the more justified). The Kids Club provides a bright and airy space inside as well as an interesting outside play area for little ones, we also think the Deli is a nice dining/lounging area, which is unusual for a hotel this size but a welcome addition for fresh coffee enthusiasts and patisserie lovers. There are a variety of cool, stylish lounging and dining areas all around this hotel so whatever vibe you want to fit in to you`ll find it. Find a super comfy lounger, lose yourself in a book and spend the day dipping in and out of the pool, whilst being waited on by the more than friendly staff. A nice touch is the fact that this hotel has two pool areas, the bigger one being by the main Elements restaurant and bar area, the other is near the gym way up high making full advantage of the spectacular ocean views (it’s also near The Kids Club so checking up on your little ones isn’t too far from your sunbed!). You’ll be handed complimentary bottled water to keep you hydrated throughout the day and this can also be obtained from the bar if like us you’re needing a top up every half an hour.

The Dhartri Spa is located near the main pool area and is a serene haven full of gorgeous smells to relax your senses. It’s small but highly efficient in providing a fantastic menu of beauty treatments from massage and facials to body scrubs and wraps all designed to relax the mind, balance the body and purify your soul. I was lucky to try out a 90 minute jasmine scrub treatment including a massage – it was heaven. There are four treatment rooms all with a private changing room, mine also has it’s own WC and shower unit. My treatment started with a delicate scrub on my calves and feet, this instantly relaxed me and I knew I was in for a treat. I hopped on the heated bed and the scrub was applied to my entire body, it was quite abrasive and firm but I was really looking forward to seeing the results. This process took around 30 minutes and once the scrub was showered off I was able to indulge in one of the most relaxing massages I have ever had! I chose a jasmine oil, which I loved the smell of so much so it sent me off to sleep a few times. My back and back of my legs were massaged first and when I switched onto my back my face was then cleansed. A deep cleansing mask was applied and it was amazing to feel each area of my body had been thought about. While this was working its magic the front of my body was massaged as well as my head, neck and décolletage. The mask was removed and my entire self from head to toe felt absolutely incredible. I would totally recommend this fabulous body treatment as the results looked and felt amazing – my face looked fresh and my skinned looked buffed, shiny and smooth. To complete the experience some refreshing tea and sweet tomato nibbles were waiting for me in the spa’s lounge area. All that pampering had certainly made me build up an appetite for some dinner that’s for sure!

The hotel’s main a la carte restaurant is called Vero and is classed as an Italian Trattoria and Wine Bar. It offers up a delicious selection of Italian firm favourites as well as some fabulous ‘specials’ and gorgeous sounding wood fired pizzas. We sat outside and the ambiance was fuelled by a singer with a guitar, he made his way around different areas of the restaurant serenading guests that helped set the mood. We can highly recommend the wild king prawns wrapped in smoky pancetta as well as the beef carpaccio, we also opted for the rocket and goats cheese salad to accompany both appetizers – all dishes were outstanding with fantastic flavours. For our mains the rack of lamb and the beef medallion in porcini mushroom sauce stood out from the menu and we weren’t disappointed, as the flavours were deliciously rich. The prices in this restaurant are incredibly reasonable and the wine list is extensive. If you fancy traditional Thai or Western cuisine with a contemporary twist then try the alternative in house restaurant Elements, which is open all day. Alternatively, a short walk along Naithon Beach will arrive you at some quaint, traditional Thai beach restaurants and bars with ample choice of delicious favourites and BBQ seafood, all of which are great value.
