Diageo’s Alexander and James luxury spirits gifting site

Maintaining market share in an already saturated, online, premium spirits market is always going to be a challenge, however Diageo’s Alexander and James venture appears to be bending the curve. This premium spirits gifting service has been named after two of the finest spirits masters ever, Alexander Walker and James Buchanan and when you see the range of products on offer it’s clear to see why.

Alexander & James is an online platform focused on offering Diageo’s premium spirits range as well as premium accessories to enjoy them. In a few clicks you can purchase luxury glassware, spirits and accessories, all personalised to your requirements. What’s more, all the products come beautifully packaged making the site a must go-to for those seeking to send luxury gifts to spirit connoisseurs. A&J feels more like a luxury lifestyle site than a premium ecommerce store, which is a big hit in our eyes – their digital magazine is a must read and contains heaps of fantastic recipes + lots more.

In terms of the site itself, we particularly like the ‘Rare Finds’ section, which showcases some truly original gift ideas, such as the super impressive Johnnie Walker Blue Label Alfred Dunhill Ltd Edition (£179) or the range of 7 whiskies that you can actually personalize, the Talisker 18 year old at £69.90 is worthy of a mention. The site’s pages are rammed with fantastic ideas that would certainly make for gifts likely to be very well received.

We recently had the opportunity to review a product from the site and as a lover of single malt we were lucky enough to receive the ‘Classic Malts Collection’. This is a collection of arguably six of the finest single malts, accompanied by a stylish wooden and glass plinth to present them to the world on. The set retails at around £230 and contains: 1 x Lagavulin 16 Year Old, 1 x Talisker 10 Year Old, 1 x Cragganmore 12 Year Old, 1 x Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old, 1 x Oban 14 Year Old, 1 x Glenkinchie 12 Year Old.

The set is super premium and has taken pride of place in my kitchen, it looks and feels like a work of art, the hardest decision being whether to open the set!

There are many alternative whisky gift sets available that we’d certainly recommend including the Jonnie Walker Blue Label gift set at around £145 or the Bulleit Bourbon Gift Set, which includes 2 stylish glasses at a reasonable £33.90.
