City Point Health Club Review

Unsurprisingly City Point Health Club in located smack bang in the heart of London`s financial district – and a good job too. When the manic phone calls, frantic emails and tough trading gets too much this place offers an oasis of calm in a hectic world. Situated in the basement of a stylish office tower there is no opportunity for work or colleagues to pester you here, the club provides both a retreat, an escape and is the perfect antidote to a stressful lifestyle.

I visited the spa on a Tuesday afternoon to experience one of their latest packages: Fuchsia: time for you and me. Advertised as something to enjoy with a loved one it`s a perfect day out for couples, mother & daughters, best friends and siblings. (For those at a loss for Valentines or Mothers day please make note!) The idea is to spend is a few quality hours with each other with the added bonus of a pampering treatment and delicious lunch thrown in- and all enjoyed in luxurious surroundings.

From the moment you step through the door the staff take care of you, showing you around the gorgeous facilities and talking you through the treatments. Ours consisted of a 55 minute lava shell full body massage in the newly launched fuchsia suite.
Lying in a candle lit room with soft music playing in the background the therapists used the shells and aromatherapy oils to release tension from our knotted muscles and clenched shoulders. It`s a wonderful experience, totally relaxing and utterly stress busting especially with the shells bringing healing properties of the sea with them.

It`s really worth making the most of the day here. The 20 m pool is divine and we managed a dip before heading towards the sauna and steam room but weren`t quite brave enough to tackle the plunge pool. (Very good for cellulite and a hangover apparently!)

After all the hard work and lying down ( !) we didn`t bother with the gym but went straight to lunch and enjoyed a nutritious super food salad – and large glass of wine! It`s easy to be both virtuous and naughty; the menu has such a great selection. And as digesting can be such hard work we retired to the relaxation room where guests lie back on soft leather chairs in total quiet and watch tropical fish swim around the spa`s stunning aquarium.

If all this is a bit too delicate sounding for your loved one it`s worth noting some of the more macho partnerships underway at the spa. Gaucho Smithfield has partnered on a Spa and Steak package.
Guests will be able to use the facilities all day from 9am until 5pm including a welcome drink, champagne lunch for two and similarly experience a 55 minute full body massage before being collected in private car and driven to Gaucho Smithfield for a romantic dinner for two.
