Burns Night is one of Scotland’s biggest celebrations of the year and what better way to enjoy the night than with a wee dram of Whisky? Balblair, one of our favourite producers of Scottish Single Malt Scotch Whisky, have the perfect vintage whisky for you this January. Balblair only release vintage whiskies when they are at their absolute peak and their Vintage 2005 Single Malt is no exception.
As with each of Balblair’s fine whiskies, this one has been created with the upmost level of care and love. According to them, “Balblair Vintage 2005 1st Release (£43) is matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels imparting notes of oaky vanilla, leather and oranges with a hint of fragrant cut flowers and smoke.” This level of detail really is crucial in creating a whisky, which is above the rest and that little bit special. Vintage 2005 is a full bodied whisky with some gorgeous honey on the nose and a citrus, apple aroma. We quite happily sat back and sampled this on a cold winter’s evening last weekend and we have to say it’s a hit.
In terms of colour, this is golden in colour and comes in a wonderful presentation box to stow away neatly after each dram. We have also been lucky enough to sample some of the other whiskies in the Balblair collection and it provides an eclectic selection of flavours and prices for all. Simply visit their website to find out more.
You can purchase this fine whisky from Royal Mile Whiskies, The Whisky Shop, The Whisky Exchange, Master of Malts (online), selected Oddbins & independent specialists. RRP £43.
