Camden’s finest restaurant – Gilgamesh

Hidden amongst the hustle and bustle of London’s Camden town lies Gilgamesh Restaurant and Bar, a 15,000 sq ft Babylonian style palace modelled around the life and times of an ancient Eastern god. Awe inspiring is an understatement!

The venue has four areas to dine, drink, dance and socialise, all set within beautiful architecture. The menu is classed as `Pan Asian` and encapsulates a myriad of signature dishes with influence from South East Asia, China and Japan, all developed under the watchful gaze of Celebrity Chef Ian Pengelley.

We recently discovered the luxury delights of Gilgamesh for ourselves with a fleeting evening visit. After we`d picked ourselves up from the sheer magnitude, vibrancy and delicious foodie smells floating around we enjoyed a deliciously fresh cocktail aptly named an Emerald Fizz (Vodka embraced with fresh Kiwi, topped with Champagne). These definitely come highly recommended.

Our waiter was incredibly helpful explaining in detail the various delights on the menu of which we selected a beautifully spiced Thai soup, crispy squid (to die for) and the prawn spring rolls (of course!). We were pleasantly surprised at the speed of service even though the venue was positively heaving.

For our mains we trialled the Best End Of Asian Spiced Lamb and The RibEye Beef which were both bustling with spices and incredibly fresh. I think next time however we`d select the curry which appeared to be a house speciality and the dish of choice for most.

We never made dessert….

In our minds Gilgamesh definitely secures a place near the top of fine dines in and around North London. If you`re anywhere near Camden you can`t afford to not to pop in for a drink or a bite to eat. Just sit back, relax and allow yourself to go back in time and enjoy the glorious adventures of Galgamesh!
