South Place Hotel London Review

If it’s luxury accommodation you are looking for, added with calmness and sophistication, then look no further than London’s South Place Hotel. From the stunning décor to delightful staff, this is one hotel that I will most definitely be returning to and will be highly recommending to friends.

About South Place Hotel

Situated between Moorgate and Liverpool Street, this hotel couldn’t be in a better location for transports links into London City and surrounding areas. South Place Hotel is the first hotel from restaurateurs, D&D London. It boasts an impressive 80 bedrooms, has a choice from five incredible bars and the restaurants are utterly divine. The décor oozes quality and top-class style, it makes you feel comfortable and relaxed almost immediately on first entering the hotel. This delightful ambience carries on throughout the whole hotel – trust me, you will not be disappointed!

The Bedrooms

There are many different rooms available here, depending on your budget of course! You could go all out and stay in their east Wing Apartment which boast an impressive three bedrooms, its own private entrance, open plan living and dining room, guest bathroom and kitchenette.

Or choose from the Loft rooms, King rooms, Eldon rooms, Wilson rooms, a Studio room or the amazing Suite 610 (would you look at that bath – wow!!)

I had the joy in staying in one of the King rooms (turned twin as I was staying with a friend!) and we couldn’t have been happier. The room really was stunning, with contemporary décor, top quality furnishings, a floor-to-ceiling window which is completely black-out with the blinds drawn and superb comfortable beds (seriously, I don’t think I moved once!). There is a work desk with media hub featuring multi-national sockets and Bluetooth connectivity, full length mirrors and an extensive fully loaded mini bar.  Now, the bathroom really is something else – from top to bottom marble and a large deep bath with a highly powered shower – what more would you want?

The Bars

You really are spoilt for choice when it comes to having your favourite tipple at South Place Hotel. From cocktails on the terrace or coffee on the couch, whatever your mood there will be somewhere suitable for you to sit and relax.

3 Bar is located on the ground floor just beside the South Place Chop House (which is worthy of its own separate review!).  The atmosphere in here is truly wonderful, my friend and me chilled out on the sofa slowly sipping a bottle of wine, watching the world go by – relaxed is an understatement! The staff where a delight to, very attentive and friendly. There is an extensive drinks menu, featuring 40 different gins!! You can also order a variety of cocktails, including the new Poptails menu, in partnership with the popcorn brand, Joe & Seph’s.

The Angler Terrace is an extension of the Michelin-starred seafood restaurant, serving Executive Chef, Gary Foulkes’ menu of mouth-watering dishes. From snacks, cocktails or whatever tipple you fancy, there’s no nicer place than sitting outside here on a warm evening.

By far the prettiest bar I have ever seen is the Secret Garden, a true oasis in London! This bar emits beauty from every angle, with its beautifully coloured florals, creeping vines and retractable roof, you will feel like you have been transported to the south of France from onset. A very busy spot, but not surprisingly so, the Secret Garden is a perfect location for any private function.

Our Verdict

Whether you are in London for business purposes, for a romantic night away or to explore the city, South Place Hotel is perfect in all aspects. They really have everything covered to perfection, and there is honestly not one fault that I can think of. My stay there was extremely comfortable and relaxing – just how it should be!

Highly recommended.
