Set along the banks of the River Thames and just 5 minutes from Heathrow Airport and historic (in the opposite direction), The Runnymede-on-Thames Hotel is a newly refurbished 4* hotel with a lot to offer.

The hotel has recently undergone a £20m refurbishment, which has brought it bang up to date and looking… well… rather glamorous. The refurbishment has altered the look and feel of the original hotel dramatically, providing for a cool, contemporary place for weddings, wellbeing spa treatments, business meetings or affordable stop overs with great access to London and surrounds.

The hotel consists 2 restaurants, an outdoor pool, a spa, tennis courts, plenty of meeting spaces and 180 guest rooms.

We recently reviewed The Lock, the hotel’s premier A La Carte restaurant, which has been tastefully decorated. There is a welcoming bar to have a drink at before your meal with a fantastic (and unusually rare) range of ales and beers on offer, which we definitely recommend you experience.

The staff are incredibly polite and knowledgeable about the menu and the wines, which are incredibly good value… almost under value in some cases.

We opted for the prawn and squid skewers, followed by the rib eye steak. Both dishes were cooked beautifully and full of fresh flavours… we were very happy with our selection to say the least.

What is really apparent about the restaurant experience at The Runneymede Hotel is that it is incredibly good value. We have experienced a number of hotel restaurants with food half as good but with prices twice as high. No wonder the restaurant is regularly filed with both locals and guests every night of the week!

One last thing on the food front… the Sunday roasts sound absolutely incredible, but be sure to book before turning up!

So if you are an overseas tourist looking for a very reasonable hotel to stay at before you embark on your tour of London, or perhaps want a place to stay with the family that is within close proximity of Thorpe Park, Windsor, Legoland, Twickenham or perhaps one of the UK’s finest golf courses then this is definitely the place for you.
