I first visited Fortnum and Masons several years ago and whilst certain parts of it are underwhelming the food hall never ceases to enthrall me. I have a tradition of visiting the food hall every Christmas and stocking up on lots of delicious goodies.

I hear they are refurbishing the store mostly the upper floors I believe. My hope is that they don’t suck the character out of the place. It really is a London institution.

My suggested food buys for folks back home (assuming you can get them through customs - definitely worth checking your countries restrictions before purchase) are:

1. Fortnum’s tea - quite simply the best blended tea in the world.

2. The Aberdeen Angus Steak Pie with oysters is simply delicious.

3. There are a wonderful array of preserves and pickles which are fantastic. Apple and cider chuckney is a must buy.

4. Finally you must, must buy a selection of the hand crafted truffles and chocolates. The champagne truffle is exquisite.

For a store with huge luxury connotations the food hall isn’t massively expensive and if the Queen buys her food there it’s good enough for me!
