The Draycott Hotel London 5 Star Luxury Town House Review

The Draycott Hotel is situated just off Sloane Square in one the most desired luxurious fashion districts and affluent suburbs in Chelsea, London. This small 5 star town house is discreet from the outside yet it’s grand interior and luxury finishes have an elegant Edwardian feel inside. Although the hotel combines three late 19th Century houses it had an intimate feel and a homely atmosphere, something that instantly soothes the mind into a state of complete relaxation.

Unfortunately, I arrived later than expected so I wasn’t able to fully appreciate the hotel’s drawing room or its charming tradition of complimentary tea and biscuits, usually served at 4pm or the glass of champagne, poured on the nose at 6pm. These gestures are all lovely touches and if guests want to they can also request a mug of hot chocolate before retiring for the night, giving a real home from home familiarity.

The hotel itself has 35 beautifully decorated large bedrooms and suites to choose from, with each named after different theatre legends - be it Sheridan, Coward, Grenfell, or Ashcroft - my room was called Gertrude Lawrence. When I first stepped inside my room, eerie classical music was playing, however, this added to its ambience. One of the first things I noticed about the room was its substantial size and the luxuriously large bed seemed particularly inviting. It was dressed with Victorian antiques that complimented the theatrically themed interior.
The following morning I was able to take a closer inspection at the room. It had all the modern amenities you’d expect, such as a real working gas fireplace, air conditioning, satellite television and CD music system as well as complimentary Wi-Fi available in all areas of the hotel. However, one thing I would have expected in the room was complimentary bottled water, although after searching for it I did find one in the mini bar. The room was quiet and the bed was really comfortable which helped me get a good nights sleep. The en-suite bathroom was a decent size with twin basins and luxury toiletries to bathe in.

Finally, I opted to have breakfast via room service but before it arrived I pulled back the curtains and took in the fabulous view, which overlooked the private garden square. The sun was shining through the blossom and it looked delightful. Fortunately, my breakfast arrived before the scheduled time and so I thoroughly enjoyed tucking into the cooked as well as fresh delights arranged on the tray.
