Novotel Forest Resort in Creswick

Given the prolonged level of drought in Australia, you would be forgiven for thinking that remote luxury resorts might suffer. Not a bit of it. The solution implemented by the Novotel Forest Resort was to drought proof the location by constructing Australia’s first privately owned water treatment plant.
This innovative engineering project has cost in the region of AUD$4million (£1.9million) and recycles all of the resorts grey and black water for use in the complex, i.e for irrigation on the golf course, and surrounding gardens.
In keeping with the eco theme the resort has created several lagoons, offering refuge for wildlife and birds and the proposed creation of a worm farm to deal with food waste.
The Novotel Forest Resort Creswick is part of a AUD$250million (£120million) development that includes hotel and residential accommodation, conference facilities, a championship golf course, a health and wellness Centre, a wedding chapel and a restaurant, which focuses on local produce.
