Langshott Manor is a beautifully restored 16th Century manor house hotel just outside Horley. It’s perfect for those looking for a romantic weekend getaway in Surrey or equally it’s conveniently located very near to Gatwick Airport should business or leisure travellers wish to book some luxury accommodation before they kick start their self indulgent holidays.

Packed with original features, this charming and glamorously stylish retreat also presents the heart of this manor house, the fine dining restaurant aptly named the Mulberry. It’s ideal for couples and groups in search of a special intimate venue to experience a superb dining environment and delicious food (you can even see gorgeous swans wondering around outside while you eat!).

Chef Phil Dixon heads up this award-winning establishment and proudly sources local ingredients to create the tantalising and creative seasonal menus. The restaurant seems to speak for itself as it sits amongst some of the top rating restaurants in Surrey and Sussex with a loyal following of foodies who just can’t get enough of revisiting the Mulberry time and time again.

We relaxed in the lounge and enjoyed a refreshing Bellini before stepping foot inside the Mulberry. There, we were also presented with the food menu, which included mouth watering a la carte choices or a delightful tasting menu made up of a combination of a la carte dishes. We opted to choose from the a la carte menu, as most tasting menus are too huge and filling to contemplate. We enjoyed the lamb and foie gras starters and then tucked into our main course dishes, my sea bass and langoustine arrangement in bouillabaisse drizzle was amazing – I could have done with twice as much on my plate, it was amazing! After two courses we still had room for dessert (rare these days) so I decided on a plate of chocolate naughtiness to finish with and my guest chose an array of local cheeses. We had a lovely meal in a romantic location, which set the tone nicely just before Valentine’s weekend. Therefore, we would very much like to recommend Mulberrys Restaurant for it’s intimate setting, lovely menu and attentive service.
