We featured Laurent Perrier a while back and what a quality champagne it is to. Far better depth of flavour than some of it’s astronomically priced competitors….. Now there’s a debate to be had

But now Laurent Perrier have commisioned a “grand fromage” Parisian sommelier and a traditional pewtersmith to produce a rather tasteful cradle for their prestige cuvee. Nice….
The Grand Siècle by Laurent-Perrier Champagne Cradle is a limited edition, adding that little bit of cachet to what could well be an investment antique of the future.
Laurent Perrier say:
“Named after the 17th century when the ‘Sun King’ Louis XIV reigned, (a time when champagne found its place at the court of Versailles) Grand Siècle is a skilful blend of wines from complementary years, using 100% Grand Cru classified grapes and Laurent-Perrier’s finest vintages. This respected wine epitomises Laurent-Perrier’s heritage for unique wine-making and is well-deserving of such an innovative serving ritual.
The Grand Siècle by Laurent-Perrier Champagne Cradle is an elegant, dual-purpose champagne pourer, which is made especially to hold the distinctive Grand Siècle bottle. Delicately handcrafted by traditional Loire Valley pewtersmiths, this decorative yet practical design features a detachable cooling mat, which is discreetly placed inside the cradle.”
I particularly like the feature that chills your champers to a perfect (10C) - simply freeze the cradles cooling mat for an hour before serving.
A Grand Siècle by Laurent-Perrier Champagne Cradle is presented in a bespoke wooden gift box and includes a 75cl bottle of Grand Siècle by Laurent-Perrier. Available at Harrods, Selfridge’s and Fortnum & Mason and is priced at £350 ($580).
