Thailand is one my favourite places in the world so when I was invited to the Thai Spa Festival co-hosted by Erb and luxury beauty innovators Urban Retreat at Harrods I was so excited. Visiting this amazing country was on my wish list this year but I needn’t travel so far to experience one of the things I most love about this place.
Having spent much time holidaying in Thailand combining tropical landscapes and tranquil settings, the ‘land of smiles’ really does have a renowned service. I find many of the Thai traditions including the blissful beach massages have such a calming and soothing effect on the mind, perfectly designed to help you unwind from the stresses of everyday life.
The Thai Spa Festival is on for just one month, from Monday 3 May to Sunday 6 June 2010, in super salon Urban Retreat where they’ll be a celebration of authentic Thai wellbeing along with nine exotic Erb treatments featured on the menu for this limited period of time only.
I chose the Definitive Detox Ritual, 2 hours of absolute relaxation. From the moment I stepped foot inside my treatment room, I was literally in heaven. This treatment promised to detoxify my body and started with cleansing my feet, a traditional Thai ritual to dispose of any negativity. Thai people believe that negativity clings to the soles of the feet so this treatment always starts with a foot cleansing ritual. A fine exfoliating Scrub was then applied, which really cleansed and livened up my skin- I could feel it working wonders instantly! Next I was smothered in Asian Invasion Detox Clay, it was hot as soon as it touched my skin and shortly afterwards warmed to the same temperature, this process was a little awkward with it being so thick and sticky yet incredibly soothing. My body was then wrapped up so that the clay had time to draw out all those nasty toxins whilst purifying my skin at the same time. I have to say the unique massage technique that my therapist, Viktoryia performed at the end was the most relaxing I’ve ever experienced! I couldn’t help drifting off into a complete dream-like state – it’s definitely a treatment I would thoroughly recommend without hesitation. I just didn’t want it to end…
