We’ve had a rather exclusive sneaky peak at a new boutique hotel set to open in September 2009. It’s called ‘The Scarlet’ and is positioned on a spectacular cliff top site in Mawgan Porth, Newquay.

It’s not only going to become one of Cornwall’s premier luxury hotels, but it’s also Cornwall’s first eco hotel. It’s currently undergoing development work which will ultimately see it boast 37 bedrooms and suites featuring private gardens and balconies, a destination restaurant, bar and Ayurvedic spa, as well as unique features such as outdoor log fired hot tubs and a natural reed-bed swimming pool.

We are very strongly committed to bringing something new and innovative to the area, without empty gimmicks.” comments Emma Stratton, Marketing Director and Co-Owner, “The Scarlet is about recharging your batteries, trying something unexpected and taking time to just be, in a sanctuary that is stylish, welcoming and unmistakeably Cornish.”

The Scarlet is said to combine great design and environmental integrity with exemplary service.  Simple but individual, the hotel will be comfortable, cosy and stylish using interiors reflecting the natural world through the sensuous use of materials and unexpected one-off pieces, all adhering to the highest possible eco-standards.

Without wishing to be eco-bores, we are very proud of the hotel that we are building and the painstaking efforts that we have made to benefit, blend with and enhance our unique environment.  We like to think that we’ve put our money where our mouth is and are leading by example, showing that great design can go hand in hand with sustainability.” Says Nikki Broom, General Manager.
