Mozambique may have a troubled past but it also has enormous potential in travel and tourism. Since peace was restored it has been building towards a reputation as a reputable holiday destination.  One of the more exciting resorts recently established on the east African coast is Nuarro. An ethically sound luxury lodge dreamt up by an international team of eco warriors it has been built and is now run by members of the local community.

Everything at Nuarro has been constructed by the locals, who enjoy co-ownership of the land, the lodge is even solar and wind-powered. Buarro has been built using only local materials yet the the accommodation comprises of a dozen french architecturally-designed luxury beachfront chalets, each with spacious private decks, extra long king sized beds and inside and outside bathrooms.

Tucked away in the Biaxo do Pinda Peninsula on the shores of the Indian Ocean and standing on top of a vast dune it enjoys panoramic views across the secluded Memba bay. By being positioned closely to the continental shelf it houses waters perfect for diving, deep sea exploration and whale watching.  Kayaks can be hired to discover the nearby mangroves and bays and the resorts hosts can organise a sundown sailing trip in a traditional dhows to a private beach for an exclusive picnics. There are even Eco trails throughout the nearby bush which can easily explored by foot or mountain bike and the area has an enormous array of bird and wild life. Without a doubt this is a holiday destination with a clean conscience!
