According to the BBC, an 84.37 carat white diamond has just been sold by Sotheby’s Geneva branch for around $16m (£7.8m). It is believed to be one the largest and best quality diamonds ever to reach the market.
The walnut sized diamond was bought by Georges Marciano, the US founder of clothes retailer Guess.
