Our friends at Jouney List picked up on the story of the most expensive airfare ever. According to Singapore Airlines two lucky passengers may have to pay through eBay, a whopping $250,000 (£125,000) price tag for one of only two premium tickets.

image

The staggering price tag gets the lucky passengers a “beyond first” suite on the maiden commercial flight for a Singapore Airlines Airbus A380, scheduled for mid October.

Other less luxurious suites are also being auctioned for a more reasonable £10,000 ($20,000).

May the best man win!

The unusual but rather beautiful diamond skull created by Damien Hirst has been sold to a unnamed investment group for £50m ($100m)

image

As you might expect, the investment group intend to hold the artwork and then resell at a later date. No doubt for a considerable profit.

Interestingly, Mr Hirst will retain a small share in the piece adding to the debate about artists retaining a royalty when an artwork is resold.

The piece has received it’s fair share of criticism and controversy but personally I find it quite beautiful. Admittedly, I wouldn’t want it morbidly sitting on my mantle piece - but I can appreciate it’s unique qualities.

As we reported, the diamond encrusted skull includes a stunning pear shaped pink diamond set within the forehead and cost £14m ($28m) to put together.

Dates are due to be confirmed for a world wide tour / exhibition of the piece.

Who in their right mind would fork out £200,000 GBP to see their cats married?

A couple of crazed cat owners who felt that Phet and Ploy were obviously worth it!

It happened back in 1996 at Thailand’s largest disco where the two ‘Diamond-Eyed’ cats were dressed in ridiculous looking clothes and given to each other!

Imagine getting birthday card worth £30,000 arrive on your doorstep. 70 year old Joan Hardee received just that in the form of a Damien Hirst painting which he had personally written the words “Happy Birthday Joan” on. Joan who was Hirst’s college secretary put the painting up for auction back in 2001 at Bonham’s auctioneers but didn’t sell.

image

The picture was entitled ‘Spots’and Mrs Hardee’s son had arranged a surprise party for his mother and asked Hirst if he would make a special card for her.

Hirst went one better and sent her a signed painting instead.

Joan wanted to sell it, not to go on the holiday of a lifetime of course… but because she couldn’t afford to insure it!!!

I wonder whether it would fetch a pretty penny now?
