If you are anywhere near Madrid on 2nd July 2010 we suggest you get yourself over to the Picasso Tower, Madrid’s most iconic building in its business district, where luxury drinks brand Beefeater 24 will be opening the Midnight Labyrinth. For one night only the site will be transformed into London’s famous Vauxhall ‘Pleasure’ Gardens using 300sqm of traditional living hedge grown in England and forming a maze, which has been designed by the world’s leading maze designer, Adrian Fisher.

Between 10pm & 1am on the 2nd July you’ll be able to stroll through its narrow corridors and discover an interactive, multi-sensory garden of contemporary art, music, film and live performances from London’s leading artists. Attractions within the maze include:

• The Great Forest, with moonlight performances from Vicky Butterfly
• The Ruby’s-Red Cherry Orchard
• A London Disco Folly
• A Singing Portrait with Tricity Vogue, a unique musical cabaret artist
• The Ha Ha Infinity Mirror
• A Botanical Gin Garden
• Midnight Matinee at the Bird-House with performance artists

We are the Jedi Generation, The first trilogy formed the basis of my childhood. The importance, or love we have for, of these films is immeasurable. Even Now, nearly forty years after the first release, The Star Wars brand still has relevance.

The Vader project is exciting – 100 of the best underground artist and designers around today were invited to “pimp up” a blank Darth Vader mask. The results are just brilliant.

Not surprisingly, The Vader project has gone global, with all helmets on a world tour since 2007. The collection even had a residency at the Andy Warhol museum.

Now these Iconic, unique and, in my eyes, beautiful masks are to be auctioned (ok, the mask above may not actually be beautiful!).  July 10th at the Freemans Auction House in Philadelphia, The Vader project will be sold off individually, with prices said to be starting at around $1,500.

You also have the opportunity to bid online at www.freemansauction.com. The chance to purchase one (or more!) of these astounding works of art cannot be missed.
You can also purchase the ultimate coffee table book, with the Vader project limited edition catalogue. Over 200 pages, featuring all the Vader Project masks in full colour. Possibly nearly as collectable as the masks themselves. Order from http://www.thevaderproject.com.

This kind of historical memorabilia is not available to purchase often. Be proud of yourself when you snap up an exceptional objet d’art. Good old Darth….part of the family, really.

May gardens are full of English roses right now signalling the start of the Chelsea flower show. It’s alive and blooming until the 29th May and I’ve been lucky enough to view the stunning Laurent Perrier garden by award winning designer Tom Stuart Smith.

He’s teamed up with architect Jamie Fobert to create an elegant and sophisticated space, which perfectly suits a summery Champagne soiree. Jamie ‘s stunning bronze pavilion is composed of folded copper sheets that overlook Tom’s woodland flora. The show garden is a vision of modern sophistication and well worth a visit; in fact it’s just been awarded a gold medal!

I do not mind admitting, I am easily impressed. But this is a whole different vase of flowers!

I mean, Come on!!! This vase is just perfect. 2 concave profiles within the base of the vase makes for a wonderfully personal piece. The 60cm tall decanter can now be specially designed with the silhouettes of your choice.

But, this is where the problems start….The perfect birthday gift, a unique wedding gift (bride and groom), Mothers day, anniversary and the list goes on and on. I need to be clear here, the only issue I have with the best vase in the world is that I would like to give one to every person that matters to me.

Riedel Crystal Glassware are the master glass blowers from Austria. They know what they are doing. Riedel created the first grape specific wine glass to cater for the fact that the tongue has distinct sectors for detecting flavours. Brilliance.

Now, they have come up with a “Must have” piece with the option of using your loved ones silhouettes within the design. This special creation starts at £375 for the decanter, plus a surcharge of £125 for the same profile on both sides or £250 for two different profiles.

Why not add some style to your sports attire with designer Alison van der Lande’s luxury tennis cases and golf bags.

image

Simple yet chic in design the tennis cases are available in pink, metallic silver, white, whiskey and black.  Now I’m not too keen on the silver version but think the black and whiskey styles are fabulously versatile.  The golf bags come in blossom pink, apple green, sky blue and black and have everything a dedicated golfer needs – pockets and compartments galore alongside club covers and carry straps as standard.
