Whilst Hotel Tresanton has been established for over 10 years, we only recently found out about this jewel in Cornwall’s crown… and thank goodness we did!

Having already recently reviewed the sister hotel in Devon, The Endsleigh, we knew we were in for a treat in St Mawes. There’s something about Cornwall in Winter time, it has to be one of the most romantic locations in the UK whatever the weather – in fact the windier and rainier the more cozy it becomes. There are seaside walks, fresh seafood, splendid ales and good old Cornish hospitality to welcome you.

St Mawes is an unspoilt village on the South coast of Cornwall about 4-5 hours drive from London. It is an incredibly popular spot for tourists spot all year round because of its panoramic sea views and sea fronting homes that are now pretty much all holiday lets. Originally created as a yachtsmans’s club, Hotel Tresanton sits proudly right in the centre of St Mawes, close to a small beach and the local shops.

If you’re thinking about taking a trip to Glasgow in the future then why not stay at the gorgeous 5 star hotel Blythswood Square.  One of the city’s most famous and historical buildings has been transformed and redeveloped by Scotland’s stylish luxury boutique hotel group The Town House Collection.  Peter Taylor OBE, Chairman of the group commented –

“The chance to restore this landmark Glasgow property tastefully into a contemporary hotel, retaining its unique features and personality has been a wonderful opportunity.  It’s a magnificent building and we look forward to welcoming our first guests.”

Located in the city centre the environmentally-friendly hotel boasts an impressive 100 bedrooms including 4 spacious suites and a top floor penthouse complete with rooftop hot tub.  Rather impressive yes?  It also houses Glasgow’s first luxury spa offering Scottish treatments, a restaurant, bars, a private screening room and event facilities.

If you’re looking for a break with equal amounts of indulgence and relaxation, look no further than the town of Olhão in southern Portugal.
Other than a smattering of British day-trippers, the majority of people you will come across will be fisherman ferociously arguing over dominos, the odd stray dog seeking respite from the sun and locals basking in the good weather.

Over the course of a week in Olhão, we spent our mornings at the town’s two markets – one bursting with fresh fish and seafood, the other overripe with local fruit and vegetables, as well as the odd pig’s head and local cheese.

We recently stumbled across this rather exquisite villa for rent in Andalucia on Vintage Travels’s official blog, Vintage Holidays. Set in 350 hectares of wild olive trees and cork oak you can only hire this property in the month on August at a price starting at £6,000 per week.

Dating back to the 19th century , El Torero is situated just out of the rural town of Vejer de la Frontera and used to offer watch over the town from its imposing watch tower. The property offers accommodation for up to 16 guests (8 beds and 8 baths) and comes complete with air-conditioning, a private swimming pool and daily maid service.

Meribel has to be one of my favourite French ski resorts - even if that side of the mountain tends to go into shade come late afternoon.

Nonetheless, the quality of the skiing and the resorts apres ski are fantastic.

In terms of luxury chalets, I wouldn’t really want to look any further than this stunner which sells for around £28,000 (approx $45,000 per week).
