We stumbled across these little beauties recently and simply fell in love with the design. If there is something the Scandinavians do very well it’s product design!

What you see is a porcelain sundial (that also measures the rain) that is actually 50cm tall and is extremely durable. The simple and elegant dial is made of tempered, see-through glass and in the centre the rain gauge is made of aluminum and frosted plastic (bit of a letdown that bit!).

It costs £99 so certainly won’t break the bank and it will add some character to a garden.

Garden tranquillity is to be cherished and what better way than in one of these amazing garden retreats designed and built by specialist summerhouse manufacturer Scotts of Thrapston. They’ve teamed up with The National Trust to sell these luxury outbuildings which retail around the £9,495 mark.

There are two designs, the Reading Room, inspired by Virginia Woolf’s garden writing room at Monk’s House, her Country home in Sussex, and the Writer’s Retreat which is entered through a charming stable door and is the smaller of the two delightful buildings; it promotes a rustic and romantic style, with natural stained wood boarding inside and heritage style paints to the exterior.
