In the context of gardening services, this came as a surprise to me:

“In a climate where consumers are choosing to make the most of their home and assets, some specialist recruitment agencys for high calibre domestic staff, have seen a 25% year on year increase in demand for gardeners.”

In these times of credit crunch and financial squeeze it’s surprising to say the least. Nonetheless, Stephanie Rough, of domestic staff agency Greycoat Placements Director says:

“Employing a gardener is no longer the preserve of the wealthy.  Many of us lack the inclination or have such sophisticated aspirations for our gardens that we end up in desperate need of help.  The recession has also meant that homeowners who might have previously had time to tend to their green spaces, are no longer able to do so, and require another pair of hands to maintain and enhance their garden retreats.”

Greycoat Placements will be exhibiting at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show from the 19th-23rd May.

The old English legend of King Arthur is one of romance, betrayal and bravery, and sculptor, Gavin Haslup has brought the legend alive with this rather unusual lake bronze sculpture of The Lady Of The Lake.
Slightly larger than ‘lifesize human dimension’ this piece will no doubt become a popular talking point and turn your lake into something a little more mysterious!

There are just 10 available with a price tag of £14,500. Purchase from Garden Of England Bronze Sculptures.

There’s been a fair amount of controversy over outdoor gas heaters and fires and just how unfriendly they are to the environment and global warming.

But now there’s an alternative… established in Australia 2002, The Fire Company have been leading the way in terms of innovation and style when it comes to outdoor open fireplaces.

They are fuelled by a renewable modern energy (Denatured Ethanol - absolute alcohol/ Methylated Spirits), which burns clean and is virtually maintenance free.

Tower fire:
Size: H1403mm x W420mm x D420mm
Price: £3,755
It has a stainless steel burner and a toughened glass surround for safety.

Summer is a time for garden entertaining and what better way to do so than in an Evitavonni BeHive.  Seating 12 – 20 guests the BeHive provides the perfect garden intimacy for you and your guests.

image

Superbly supported, the seating base fabric adapts to the shape of your body and is strong enough to be walked across to any of the four exits.

Shown here with the Corral table inserted into the cut out centre, users can sit straight when dining with their feet on the ground.  Alternatively you can lie or sit up against the cushions around the edges.  A sense of playfulness and versatility is at the heart of this range as it can radiate different colours using special filters.  The Corral table can be bought on its own as a separate table or hung upside down as a light.

The BeHive comprises several parts and has lots of extra options including sun roofs, stairs and curtains.  Retail price starts at £11,985 ($23,500).
