Christopher Hyde, has just launched his rather tasteful Art Deco collection of lamps and chandeliers.

The Paris table lamp is an interpretation of an original 1923 Clément Rousseau lamp and is shown in green tinted shagreen (stingray skin) with antique bronze effect metalwork, and it comes with parchment lampshade.  Elegantly proportioned and featuring bold vertical lines juxtaposed against the coarse texture of the shagreen, the Paris lamp captures the decorative genre of the Art Déco era. The Paris lamp retails for £1116.00 and measures 620mm (height) by 400mm (wide).

The Miami chandelier is again inspired by the decadence and styling of the Art Déco era.  Made from Murano crystal glass it certainly provides the “wow” factor in a room at 70 cms tall and 1 metre across.  The Miami chandelier retails at £3231.00.

Based on the symbol and origins of the Ying and Yang icon, the kitchen is designed around the idea of two opposites that unite to create a whole.  In this case the two opposites are based around hot and cold; the hob and cooking areas signify heat and a certain degree of caution, whereas the opposite side denotes tranquillity with the sink and cooling appliances.  Representing the dots on the symbol, the circular hob and sink both have an identical diameter of 52cm.  Echoing the curvaceous shapes, the Elica Star Extractor fan suspended above was chosen for its circular shape and sumptuous design - £1956 ($3,833 approx) .

Using only the highest quality materials and integrating appliances that were built to perform, the Ying & Yang Kitchen is truly unique.  With a two metre diameter, the kitchen is specifically designed to house standard 600mm appliances in both halves.  Imaginatively designed to create the illusion that it is floating off the floor, the supporting parts of the units are set far back from the exterior edge.  Giving a superior purity of colour as well as demonstrating at least equal qualities to granite, 150mm Okite worktops were chosen to complement the Wenge wood of the units.  Maintaining the functional needs of the kitchen, soft closing doors and ample storage are also built in as standard.

The latest luxury collaboration involves Poggenpohl and Porsche Design who have been working hard to design a luxury kitchen specifically suited to men. The kitchen was available from Spring 2008 and is defined by rectangular aluminium frames in a range of sizes. Within these frames, customers can position cabinet elements in any configuration; the result is a modular, spacious and extremely versatile system that deliberately integrates clear spaces into the overall design concept.

Aluminium, a material typically used by Porsche Design, gives the P’7340 kitchen an innovative and technical look to both the furniture carcases and the frames. This is combined with a choice of sleek matt or gloss polished glass – coloured on the underside in a selection of neutral tones including Deep Black, Pure White, Frozen Green, Platinum Beige and Olive Green. Two open-grained, textured wood varieties, Driftwood and Dark Oak, provide a contrast with these cool materials. Slim worktops crafted from satin-finished glass, quartz or smooth stone elegantly complete the cabinetry.
