If you don’t have time to read this post, do yourself a favour: pick up the phone, book a table and head down to Kingston to give this place a try.

If you do have time – here’s why…

I live in Fulham – not a million miles from Kingston, but not exactly what I’d call close to it either. Imagine my surprise, then, when I arrived at Roz Ana within half an hour of leaving my front door – a darn sight sooner than if I’d headed into town! (I saved the environment and took the 85 bus from Putney Bridge tube station. Easy.)

Having prepared the palette with a pint or two of the local landlord’s finest lager (please understand, we had to find some way to spend the extra time we’d allowed for the journey!), my old friend Paul and I headed into the restaurant (I don’t see Paul very often… mainly because he lives…err… so far away in Kingston!!).

Situated 5 minutes walk from South Kensington Tube you’ll find Le Colombier, Chelsea’s authentic French dining experience and a ‘must visit’ for foodies (like us). It’s essentially a quaint, Parisian styled restaurant in the heart of Chelsea. The staff accents, aesthetics, vibrancy and menu are completely authentic and overall make for a fantastic experience.

It’s no secret that the French like their food right… their natural born talent to mix and match flavours to perfection is exactly what you’re signing up for with Le Colombier.

When we recently reviewed the restaurant we decided to start with the Salade de Crabe and Tranche de Foie Gras Maison both of which were beautifully presented and tasted great – fresh, flavoursome and left us gagging for more!

There’s something about Jacobean mansions in the country…  classic English architecture at its finest, and there’s always a dramatic history surrounding it. We recently reviewed Millers At Glencot House, a perfect, well restored example of fine English heritage nestled at the foot of the Mendip Hills, Somerset.

The property has had all manner of past lives including that of a school… but it’s now firmly in the hands of hotelier and antiques expert Martin Miller who has worked his magic on it. The hotel itself is around 5 miles from Glastonbury (which is well worth a visit, especially if you can make it up to the Tor on a clear day – the view is absolutely stunning). The best way to describe the hotel is ‘good old fashioned English eccentricity’ within a countryside paradise. It’s like nothing we’ve reviewed before, completely unique, individual… and we loved it!

Take a stroll along the Strand and glance up Bedford Street and you’d be forgiven for missing Bedford & Strand. Its unassuming exterior is barely ten feet across and is little more than the top of a fairly uninviting, brightly lit staircase. Aside from the modest sign, some wall-mounted wine bottles and discreetly placed rosettes and awards, it’s not obvious that this is a bar and bistro at all.

Don’t be put off. Take the stairs down and push through the double doors and it’s likely you’ll find yourself amidst some hearty lunchtime or after-work revelry. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming. Drinkers and diners relax and share stories in the surprisingly spacious combination of bar and restaurant, which fortunately retains many of its original fittings. Everything about this place has a tangible consistency – from the logo to the décor to the friendly service and the authentic menu – it all hangs together really well.

From the moment you click onto the Circus restaurant website you get a feeling that this restaurant is different… in more ways than one as we discovered!

Situated along Endell Street, you’ll be forgiven when you arrive and do a double take and say “this can’t be it… there’s no way in!” There is, you just have to be patient and wait for the big steel doors to open as if by magic.

Once in, it’s difficult not to be impressed with the venue, which is the work of acclaimed designer Tom Dixon. Covered in mirrored balls and with a grand marble table in the centre of the restaurant, you immediately soak up the relaxed, trendy vibe that this place oozes from every corner.
