Trinity House Paintings is an international art dealership specialising in Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, Modern British and 19th century works, based in New York, London and Gloucestershire.
Trinity House Paintings, will unveil Claude Monet’s ‘Waterloo Bridge’ at the private view of their New York gallery opening and inaugural exhibition. The ‘From Constable to Cézanne Inaugural Exhibition’ is to be held on October 19, 2011, 6:30-9:00 PM at 24 East 64th Street.
The New York Gallery opening with such a piece links back to their English counterparts in a suitably impressive way.
_‘Waterloo_Bridge’,_pastel_on_paper,_1901_-_Lussorian.jpg)
Monet created ‘Waterloo Bridge’ in 1901 and is one of only 26 pastels of the River Thames to survive from this period and the only example currently available on the open market.
A nice back story to the piece is that Monet always wished to paint this landmark, but due to missing luggage, his paints, brushes and canvases never followed him to the Savoy hotel.
Instead, he had to resort to pastels. I think he got away with it OK…
To give you an idea of how exceptional this piece is, all other pastels of London by Monet are held in museum collections.
The exhibition will also feature a selection of important British paintings by John Constable, Sir Edwin Henry Landseer, Alfred Munnings and a work by George Stubbs once owned by the great American art collector, Paul Mellon.
Alongside the Monet, there will be other Impressionist and Post-impressionist artists such as Paul Cézanne, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and Eugène Boudin.
Now this is fairly unique, a ladies cigar night! Lussorian sent one of our writers, Rhiona, to investigate….
Its not often you receive an invite to a cigar lesson in these sobering smoking ban days, but then it’s not often you receive an invite to Ten Manchester street, a gorgeous Georgian townhouse hotel and one of Marylebone’s best kept secrets.

Run by a cigar enthusiast, it offers the boutique hotel experience complete with fine dining, cocktail master-classes and cigar lessons. On the 27th September they will be launching their first ‘Ladies Cigar Evening’ so I went down for a sneak preview, keen to crack the code on what’s only ever been available at a boys club.
Hosted by Hunters and Frankau, hotel guests can enjoy a hand-rolled Havana specifically developed with the ‘female cigar connoisseur’ in mind. In their cabinet of tobacco curiosities there are several to choose from including the favourites of Winston Churchill and Fidel Castro - so you know you’re in good company.

Upon selection you can sit out under the stars in their smartly furnished heated terrace with a cocktail of your choice (mine’s a bellini) and relax with friends before dinner. I loved it and now know what Bond was onto behind Money Penny’s back. If you want to move beyond bar snacks the restaurant offers a fusion of French and Spanish cuisine, you can follow in my footsteps and kick off your meal with the chef’s interpretation of traditional Gazpacho, served 3 ways and designed so that you can mix it to your preference.
Of course all the dishes on offer are beautifully presented and cooked to perfection (order the swordfish, it’s incredible) because attention to detail is Ten Manchester.

Take one of the 45 handsomely furnished suites for example: fresh flowers, bowls of fruit, early morning newspapers, ‘remote control drapes’, two flat screen TV’s (for him and her), walk in showers, aveda toiletries and the biggest, softest bed you’ll ever had the good fortune to sleep in. It’s a shame to have to ever leave really.
Those who fancy checking out the hotel might also want to attend one of the monthly cocktail making classes. I’ve been informed that each month will be themed by ingredient and brand, all will begin with a Champagne Reception accompanied by a delicious selection of canapés, include a brief overview of the history of cocktails and each participant will then be presented with a cocktail making certificate! You’ll walk away with a goodie bag and will be able to purchase a cocktail kits to continue mastering your skills at home.

This spectacular night of glitz, glamour and high octane entertainment will, once again, be one of the biggest events in London’s calendar.

Whether you are a boating enthusiast, luxury enthusiast or both there is every chance you would have heard of Panerai. Perhaps best known for their collection of classic luxury watches originally designed for the Italian Navy back in 1890, Panerai is now a brand respected across every continent and high sea for quality and classic opulence. A Panerai watch is something most sailors aspire to and for good reason, they are beautifully crafted and often fetch tens of thousands of pounds.

But possibly what Panerai have become most famous for in recent times is its global classic yacht regattas. Each year, 500 of the world’s most beautifully preserved classic yachts take part in challenges in ten locations that have made yachting history. It is the only race circuit of its kind and attracts over 5,000 international sailors and classic boat owners who religiously take part in regattas around the world each year.
