‘All aboard a corking evening on the Orient Express’- those are words I never thoughts I’d hear hollered at me opposite Starbucks in Victoria station. But there I was, mid week in evening gown sipping on champagne ready to embark on a journey of a lifetime courtesy of Laurent Perrier and The Orient Express. These two luxury companies collaborated on a unique culinary experience for the first time this November; a carefully crafted five star dinner complimented by a selection of exquisite Laurent Perrier champagnes.

Bagpipes signalled the start to the evening, I followed my fellow passengers (all dressed to the nines) aboard the beautifully restored British Pullman otherwise known as Gwen. Suddenly we were back in the 1930’s, a time of elegance and glamour for the rich, a period where commuting was yet to become a dirty word.
Everything sparkled and shined: gleaming crystal glasses, walnut walls, brass furnishings and intricate marquetry. The train staff fussed around us dressed in regal uniform, topping up our glasses, spoiling us with tiny canapés and baskets of warm bread.

Based in the heart of London’s Legal Capital you’ll find the Six Clerks Restaurant, a rather good find of a restaurant with a fine dining menu, but without fine dining prices.
The restaurant is actually situated within the historic Law Society building itself, which is found at 113 Chancery Lane. Head inside and you’ll find the restaurant to the right wing.

We recently had the opportunity to review the restaurant during a busy midweek lunchtime and have to say we were rather impressed.
The restaurant is spacious, contemporary and bustling with power lunches, which all adds to a buzzy but relaxed atmosphere. In terms of food, the menus alter around the seasons and the restaurant maintains that it buys British ingredients to support British farmers, a worthy statement indeed.

There’s every chance you may recognise the luxury Stoke Park in Berkshire, its history pans almost 100 years and it has been immortalised thanks to Hollywood blockbusters like Layer Cake, Notting Hill and some rather good Bond films.
Stoke Park is situated approximately 20 minutes from the M25 and just outside the city of Slough. Its imposing, mile long rolling drive (with historic golf course on either side) is just a taster of the elegance you can expect with this historically important and visually appealing luxury hotel. We were recently lucky enough to review Stoke Park and found it hard not to be impressed from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.

Go on, treat yourself!
A stay at a hotel can be for so many different reasons –family, business, or pleasure – but whatever the occasion it is undoubtedly true that the staff and surroundings should make one feel special – and this is certainly true of the new Macdonald Windsor.
On arrival my husband and I parked our car in the very handy underground car park and were then shown to our room which overlooked Windsor high street and was large enough to sleep our whole family! Thankful however that the mother in law had agreed to keep our three little angels for the night we decided to make the most of our freedom and situated ourselves at the bar before dinner. The wine list at the hotel was truly magnificent – all wines have been specially selected by Master of Wine Beverly Tabbron according to our knowledgeable barman – and we arrived at our table slightly merrier than anticipated.
