Founded in the mid-19th century, Lange & Söhne have become a name synonymous with chic Swiss watch design and production. Their two new styles are no exception.
The first is the Little Lange 1 “Soirée” (£26,800). There are two styles of this ladies watch, both of which are limited edition and both come with a metallic-silver crocodile or aquamarine ray leather strap and are adorned with 63 sparkling diamonds.
Each one is a composition of 18-carat white gold, mother of pearl and, for the first time, have diamonds on the lugs and the dial. Not only are they the most gorgeous watches, but A. Lange & Söhne’s position at the pinnacle of the watchmaking world means that they are collectors’ items and therefore have great investment potential.
The second is the Grand Lange 1 (£16,300), which has been re-launched with a new face. It is an enlarged version of A. Lange & Söhne’s very first wristwatch – the Lange 1 – and is available in yellow gold, pink gold and platinum with matching monochrome solid-silver dials in champagne, argenté and rhodié. This is traditionally a man’s watch but its elegance means that it also ties in with a growing trend for women to wear complicated men’s watches.

It was from here that in 1939 the Duchess of Windsor suggested to Renée Puissant, the brilliant creative director and daughter of Estelle and Alfred, that someone should make a piece inspired by this clever device. The result was an utterly stunning jewelled necklace that could be worn open as a necklace or closed as bracelet.
