This is literally breaking news that is going to send ripples around the Luxury world – Philippe Starck has designed a pair of high end headphones.

The design is typically elegant and simple and definitely Starck.

image

The technology behind the Starck Zik headphones is anything but simple. ZIK has powerful DSP (Digital Signal Processing) algorithms that recreate the contours of the music in full. This is the “Parrot Concert Hall” effect: the music is in front of you, like at a concert!

This unique music and Bluetooth phone headset is equipped with an active noise cancelling system, the ZIK is sound insulating and guarantees the purest sound experience, whether you are listening to music or making calls.

As with all Parrot products, ZIK is compatible with all mobile phone brands and accepts a large number of music sources: connecting via a cable jack; transferring audio files using Bluetooth A2DP stereo, or using contactless NFC technology (a first for any headset allowing listeners sync and pair portable music players by touch - in much the same way an Oyster or Contactless card works).

image

The headphones also feature a touch panel on the earpiece for the first time, meaning listeners can simply swipe the panel to control the music. Swipe the panel vertically to set the volume, or swipe it horizontally to skip music forward/rewind.

Oh Man, these are the absolute business! Very nice…Technologically advanced and they look so very good too. Parrot and Starck do it yet again.

Parrot, a global leader in wireless devices for mobile phones, is set to reveal the Starck Zik headphones at the CES Las Vegas 2012.

Who says tech has to come all shiny and modern, wrapped in a hard plastic sleeve? Certainly not Jeffrey Stephenson, who has created a wonderful luxury high end wood pc.

The Aerodyne wood pc is billed as a ‘fanless mini-ITX case design made from mahogany with aluminum accents’.

image

I would just call it gorgeous – want one….Now!

This is not the first PC case mod from Stephenson, but this Art Deco wood pc is top of the list for me, a functional, sleek looking PC tower built from aluminum plating combined with a sturdy mahogany finish,

Stephenson wanted to build a compact wood PC case and the Aerodyne is fan-less, with the exception of the CPU fan on the motherboard.

image

What makes this wood pc more desirable is it’s limited in it’s production. Exclusivity is always good. Jeffrey Stephenson is considering building a small run (5-10) of this design. If interested, please contact him at jeffrey at slipperyskip.com

You can see the Aerodyne’s full specs at Slipperyskip.com as well as the complete design and build process. If this wood pc is your kind of thing, you should check out Stephenson’s other creations – but make sure you have a bit of time on your hands!

Mobiles and bling go hand in hand, that’s a given. But just how ‘bling’ can you go? Read on….

Amosu are offering ‘The most expensive diamond Blackberry’ for £120,000. Sounds like madness? The Diamond Blackberry Amosu Curva actually offers decent value for money, when you consider the quantity of diamonds and gold used here.

image

The blackberry comes with one year free global concierge service, in 44 cities around the world. There are also options to have the battery cover personalised with your name.

But the Midas king of bling, Stuart Hughes, goes a little further and has created the world’s most expensive iPhone…This one will empty your piggy bank.

The iPhone 4S Elite Gold really does deliver. Personally, I would be happy with a standard iPhone 4S, but if you want to impress, this might just do the trick!

image

The bezel is handmade from rose gold with approximately 500 individual flawless diamonds which total over 100ct. The rear section is formed using 24ct gold with the added touch of its 24ct gold Apple logo and 53 diamonds.

To house this modern day work of art, the phone comes with a chest that rivals the phone itself.

image

Made from solid Platinum with polished pieces of original Dinosaur bone from the T-REX along with rare stones such as Opal, Pietersite, Charoite, Rutile Quartz and Star Sunstone.

The handset is 64gb and limited edition of only 2 to be ever made.

The Price? A cool £6,000,000.00.

At Lussorian, we are long admirers of Atomic Floyd. Each model has consistently our performed rivals in the same price bracket.

Now, with the release of SuperDarts, suddenly Atomic Floyd are competing with the highest price bracket headphones, yet are on sale for £199.00.

I was lucky enough to review the Atomic Floyd MiniDarts nearly a year ago and they remain my headphone of choice.

Until now….

image

The SuperDarts are different from other Atomic Floyd products due to dual drivers, meaning that there are four speakers inside instead of the standard two found in most other earphones. I wanted to see just what a difference the dual drivers made….

I listened to one of my favourite tunes with the MiniDarts and then played the same song back using the SuperDarts.

OMG!

Where the MiniDarts give you crystal clear sound with a good bass, the SuperDarts take it up a few levels. The sound is complete.

This is 3D sound. Your ears get a treatment that they haven’t before encountered. Twangs and beats come at you from everywhere. Your head fills with sound. It is a beautiful thing.

I then went through a few different albums, picking out some beauties to try on the SuperDarts, in fact, I became a little obsessed. It was a little like discovering an extra dimension to your favourite song. Layers of sound and low frequency notes that might normally get missed.

Atomic Floyd have delivered the Best Headphones Of 2011, no doubt. The fact that they look as good as they sound is 1) a mean feat and 2) no surprise. This is Atomic Floyd, they just do things better!

Using titanium, steel, Kevlar and gold, the SuperDarts are a superior choice, perfect for any serious music lover.

The SuperDarts come with a new inline stainless steel remote/mic which provides full control of playback and volume, and seamless switching between music and chat (with full iPhone and iPad compatibility).

Atomic Floyd were already there, but with the release of the best headphones of 2011, their mantra of ‘unstoppable performance meets breathtaking design’ has been met 100%.

Available exclusively from Atomic Floyd and Apple Store.

Analogue is all but dead, Digital has been embraced…we move on.

Have you seen those images of all the analogue TVs in scrap yards? We now live in the Digital age, which has improved our lives endlessly.

But what about the next big thing? What about the next wave of technology which means we need to upgrade again?

I am all for advancement, but I am against the constant need to purchase the latest model because it can do something my current model cant.

And that’s why I love TVonics DTR-Z500HD, simply the World’s Best Digital TV Recorder.

image

This Freeview+ HD Digital TV recorder allows you to watch, record and pause digital SD and HD TV and with its 500GB Hard drive you can record hundreds of hours of your favourite programs.

Standard stuff, I hear you saying. Well, check this out…

When I first got this box, the above was all it could do and I was more than happy with it. I had ditched a cheaper version because of better clarity of picture and sound, not to mention an easier to use interface.

But now, after a free software upgrade available from the TVonics website, I get BBC’s iPlayer at a touch of the button.

This essentially makes my box a new version, up to date with the latest technology…at no extra cost.

An electronic gadget that can evolve and improve? The DTR-Z500HD is the way forward. What is interesting is how long this box can stay at the top.

As long as the updates keep coming, I guess.

And TVonics will continue with the software updates. Even better, Once the free software upgrade is downloaded, consumers will be able to receive future software and feature updates automatically via their internet connection, so there is no need to manually update products to get the latest software upgrades.
Andy Carr, CTO of TVonics commented: “We are committed to listening to our customers and providing them with the services they really want. Upgrading our Freeview+ HD recorders with internet services allows us to ensure that all customers have the latest features without a lot of hassle. Now, all they have to do is switch on and take advantage of new services as they arrive”.
So TVonics DTR-Z500HD Freeview+ HD recorder can remain new, regardless of how old it may be.

That’s why it is the World’s Best Digital TV Recorder.
