A variety of black watermelon called a “Densuke” has been sold in Japan for a record $6,100 - record price for a watermelon.

The 17 pound behemoth was grown on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido and reportedly bought by someone who “who wanted to support local agriculture ” according to the Kyodo News agency.

Apparently, the dark skin of the Densuke and it’s unsurpassable flavour mark it apart from other varieties of watermelons.

This amazing device is controlled from a master control panel that allows three different temperatures and flow rates. Pretty handy if you roll out of bed needing a cold shower!!

Simply activate the required setting from your bed using the wireless remote, so that when you arrive at the bathroom you’re good to go. Clever huh….

The Grohtherm comes with universal Movario Trio shower set with telescopic pipe for ceiling supply, elbow outlet for wall supply and 1500mm shower hose. The retail price is a very reasonable - £1,000 ($1,950).

This wonderfully crafted pencil sharpener by El Casco would sit proudly on just about any desk.

It’s simple, but beautifully designed, hand operated mechanism, is offset by black and 23K gold plated panels. Ok, it has the basic functionality of a pencil sharpener but it also incorporates the lines of a beautiful desk object too.
