Vodka and cheese… possibly not a combination you’d immediately think of putting together, but don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!

We recently got sent some Godminster Vintage Oak Smoked Cheddar and Organic Godminster Vintage vodka. Now vodka and cheese are two of my favourite things, so I wasn’t going to pass this opportunity up!

The cheese was oak smoked and made from the milk of its pampered cows in the heart of Somerset. I’ve never really been into smoked cheese to be honest, reminds me of German breakfasts… BUT I can honestly say that my taste buds have had a complete change in attitude since trying it. I have to make it very clear that this Cheddar isn’t like a rubbery smoked German Edam by the way; it’s the perfect texture for vintage Cheddar and melts in your mouth. Obviously the deeper you get into the cheese the less Smokey it tastes, so you actually get the best of both worlds. It’s matured for over 14 months and will set you back a very reasonable £5.25.

Stuart Phillips is a man in demand! He’s a London hair stylist whose order book is filled by wives of Oligarchs who pay up to £20,000 a cut... well in fairness it’s a little more than just a cut!

His salon is based in London’s Covent Garden and he originally gained recognition in the industry after making the Guinness Book Of World Records in 2007 for the most expensive haircut at £8,000.

He has now smashed this record… and continues to do so on a regular basis, offering his clients his undivided attention, bodyguards, a private chef, dog walkers, interpreters, special scents put through the ventilation system and obviously the finest products. Believe it or not, demand has actually gone up in the recession.

Priced at around £2,500 ($4,000), the HydroTap is the ultimate luxury kitchen gadget.

Just three hours after leaving London, there we were thrashing out a game of tennis on the courts of The Priory Bay Hotel, which we followed with a somewhat bracing swim from our lodging’s private beach.

In fact, so eager were we to take advantage of the facilities and grounds, we forewent the formality of actually checking in.

On return to reception, we marveled at the ivy-clad building and its immaculate gardens. We then wound our way up the stairs into an elegant guest room with windows in all directions.
