There seems to be a resurgent hullaballoo going on at the moment about “Tiret New York Second Chance” time pieces. Personally I find them a very sickly form of bling, but they are considered a luxury item by some, hence them being featured here.

Tiret’s co-founder Hip Hop Producer Damon Dash is behind these unique watches and they seem to be flying off the shelves.

Retailing for a staggering £24,000 (some customised watches have retailed for as much as $1 million) the Second Chance Chronograph which has been designed by Daniel Lazar is largely a piece of overt “look at me” work. Nothing wrong in that and for those bling fanatics out there good luck to you with this one - but for me personally, it really doesn’t cut it in terms of style. Yes, each timepiece includes 519 Belgian Exire diamonds (that’s five times the Tag Heuer Diamond Fiction) but sometimes less is more!

Interesting post over on Optimal Strategy which claims that there is evidence to suggest an upsurge in luxury airtravel.

“Increased fears over terror acts on commercial airliners has led to a major increase in luxury airtravel.  Eos, which flies Boeing 757 jumbo jets that seat just 48 passengers, has reported an increase in reservations by over 30 percent over the next three weeks.  The jump has been largely attributed to frustration and fears caused by the recently foiled terrorism plot. The airline currently flies only from London to JFK, but plans on adding fourteen more routes by 2010.”

The big question is whether this is a long term shift and whether this will result in a more luxury centric airlines popping up. I suppose you might also have to ask the question whether you would actually be anymore protected from terrorism by using a luxury carrier. I have my doubts. What do you think?

We’ve mentioned the stunning Updown Court here and broke the story that it will be featured in the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive new build residence.

However, there is a residence out there which comes close in terms of pure luxury. Donald Trump’s $125 million house on Palm Beach really is quite breathtaking to behold. Mentioned on Forbes.com, the house was purchased in 2004 by Trump from former health care executive Abe Gosman at bankruptcy auction for $41.25 million. The refurbished version is now complete with a ballroom, conservatory, 100-foot-long swimming pool and 475 feet of oceanfront. It is apparently listed with Dolly Lenz and Geoff Thomas at Prudential Douglas Elliman.

Interesting to note that the prolific Michael Schumacher scoots round the planet in the eight person Falcon 2000 retailing at a cool $15 million (£10 million) plus undoubted extras for fit out, maintenance contracts etc etc.

Pretty essential piece of kit if your flitting from one grand prix to another I guess. This beautiful aircraft even has it’s own gym. How luxurious is that!

I wonder if Mr Schumacher ever takes this baby for spin?

If you’re on the exchanges gambling gazillions of dollars each day and you’ve got money to burn like a stereotype “forex billionaire” then what on earth would you want as a birthday or christmas present.

I really pity people trying to buy for those who have everything, unless of course you have everything as well in which case you might be able to register something meaningful in the present department. So I tried to imagine myself as a billionaire and came up with a top five list of things that might fit the bill if money was no object:
