Ok, a telescope isn’t everybody’s idea of luxury, but for me there is nothing better than peering into the universe on a warm, crystal clear night - whilst sipping sangria on a villa balcony in southern Spain!
The perfect astronomical tool for the complete amateur is the Celestron Skyscout which identifies prominent stars and planets for you.
However, the next step up (and what I consider to be the very best in home telescopes) is the Meade LX200 GPS-SMT. This incredible piece of engineering can locate and track 145,000 celestial objects including galaxies, stars, planets and even focus in on individual moon craters. It does this by picking up a GPS fix and then cross referencing this with it’s extensive celestial archive.

This has to be one of the coolest gadgets about at the moment. It’s a high fashion LCD TV designed for today’s modern woman and resembles an Italian style handbag.
Made out of 100% genuine imported Italian leather it marries design conscious fashion with tech chic.
It has a 9.6” LCD TV and includes a carry strap and a clever cable management facility that tucks away cables for neatness.
It’s an absolute bargain if you need a pressie for the girl who has everything at around £125.

The ‘Eccentricity’ candle is the result of a recent partnership between fashion brand English Eccentrics and the St Eval Candle Company.
It’s a London-inspired candle; the scent is designed to evoke thoughts of riding through Hyde Park on a spring morning!
In fact, the striking black imagery, typical of English Eccentrics’ design and colour ethos, Eccentricity has been created to reflect High Society London. Its scent is inspired by a morning horse and carriage ride through London’s Hyde Park, represented with signature fragrances of bergamot, petitgrain, herbs mixed with saddlery leather.
Further designs are due to launch later in 2008.
The candle has a RRP of £25 and is available here.
We stumbled across these little beauties recently and simply fell in love with the design. If there is something the Scandinavians do very well it’s product design!
What you see is a porcelain sundial (that also measures the rain) that is actually 50cm tall and is extremely durable. The simple and elegant dial is made of tempered, see-through glass and in the centre the rain gauge is made of aluminum and frosted plastic (bit of a letdown that bit!).
It costs £99 so certainly won’t break the bank and it will add some character to a garden.

I can honestly say I haven’t found a sock that even comes close to the same quality as my new ‘self clean’ Alpaca walking socks. I love walking and when I was recently given my own pair of Alpaca walking socks I threw them on and went hiking for 4 hours in complete comfort and without even thinking it!
A present from my better half, they arrived in a beautifully packaged box with a bow and all!
Believe it or not Alpaca fleece was so highly regarded that it was used by Inca royalty… good enough for them good enough for me I say! I’ve learnt a lot about Alpaca hair in fact – it has hollow fibre properties which makes it incredibly light, warm and hard wearing and very hypoallergenic.
In fact Alpaca wool actually repels bacteria and odour which means I don’t have to wash them… well… not often anyway!
They truly are a bargain at £20 and I suggest that if you’re struggling to find a pressie for the hiker, walker or climber that has everything… look no further than Perilla.
