I know that when I was a small boy it was always the highlight of the week when I came to mow our lawn with the big petrol engined beast we used to keep in the garage. Maybe, I’m alone here but it seemed that it was about as close as I was going to get to driving a car before the age of 17. Maybe, subconsciously there was a bit more to Forrest Gump’s obsession to mowing the football pitch…  Even now mowing my lawn helps collect my thougths at the end of a long day.

I think if I was buying the ultimate lawnmower nowadays there would be a little more choice than back in the day.

Take a look at the Honda HF 2620. I mean this beauty is almost a full on racing car with a rotar blade afterthought. This wasn’t designed for pure practicality, it was designed to tickle the boyhood spirit, to pull at the boys with toys mentality that resides in most adult males.

This retails for $5,200 (£3,475) and was voted Best Garden Machine at the National Gardening Awards 2004. Oooh must be good then. Probably the coolest feature is that it has an LED dashboard that beeps when the grass bag is full. Wowsers.

Or how about the Stiga Park Pro 25:

When on holiday I do tend to really value a comfortable sun lounger and if your lucky enough to own your own luxury holiday home there should be no skimping on buying the very best money can buy. We took a look at what we thought was “Probably the most Comfortable Sun Lounger in the World” here. But quite frankly there is some seriously stiff competition out there.

Take a look at this one from Unopiu:

Sleek, sophisticated and luxurious. However, just a note of caution when buying for your luxury holiday home in Spain and elsewhere around the Mediterranean - watch out for the termites! They love whicker, timber and other natural materials - I know from experience!  Nonetheless this sun lounger is particularly elegant and comfortable and is currently retailing for $400 (£270) at Unopiu.

Other models to consider are:

If you fancy a luxurious weekend on the Cote d’Azur then you might want to consider the Eden Roc or Hotel du Cap. This place is the height of luxury with sumptuous accommodation and facilities.

According to the their web site:

“The Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc is situated at the tip of the Cap d’Antibes equidistant between Cannes and Nice and occupies 22 acres right at the edge of the Mediterranean Sea; it is a pure south of France vista. The Hotel du Cap is set amid a fragrant pine forest and is defined by a majestic allée leading to the Pavilion Eden-Roc which is built into the rock along the sea. An acqua blue heated salt-water swimming pool melds seamlessly with the sea.”

Niccce…

Literally hundreds of A-list celebs have stayed here including:

I’m not a big fan of Tag Heuer. Their brand some how seems tainted by the huge influx of replicas from the east and the designs have been less than inspiring for many a year. I guess it might have been a case of resting on laurels a little bit.

However, I finally think Tag have come up with a watch that lives up to their incredibly inflated prices.

It’s called the Tag Heuer Calibre and is really, really, really something special. Here’s the lowdown:

Ok so you’ve got the garage full of expensive sports cars, you’ve got the expensive house, you’ve got the expensive holidays each year - what next.

Well, if you’re like me there’ll be the occasional yearning for childhood dreams like the ultimate Go Kart you never got round to building - you know the one with the lawn mower engine attached. Or there’s the hopeful wish that you could jump off a building with an umbrella in hand and land safely. Or was it to build the ultimate Tree House? This one really got my juices flowing when I was a kid, to the point where I ended up paying for my ambition with a broken arm from a fir tree I should never have climbed.

The ultimate Tree House no longer needs to be an idle aspiration. Today it can become a reality - and without risking life and limb.image
