In the world of the rich and famous, money is no object.

In the case of Jay-Z (the current love interest of Beyonce) her 25th birthday present had to be something fairly extraordinary. Oh boy is it special - Jay decided to purchase a 1959 Rolls Royce convertible for his beloved - value is thought to be in the region of $1 million. I have to say the guy has style!

This is one heck of a land mark car, I just hope she doesn’t prang it!

There seems to be a resurgent hullaballoo going on at the moment about “Tiret New York Second Chance” time pieces. Personally I find them a very sickly form of bling, but they are considered a luxury item by some, hence them being featured here.

image

Tiret’s co-founder Hip Hop Producer Damon Dash is behind these unique watches and they seem to be flying off the shelves.

Retailing for a staggering £24,000 (some customised watches have retailed for as much as $1 million) the Second Chance Chronograph which has been designed by Daniel Lazar is largely a piece of overt “look at me” work. Nothing wrong in that and for those bling fanatics out there good luck to you with this one - but for me personally, it really doesn’t cut it in terms of style. Yes, each timepiece includes 519 Belgian Exire diamonds (that’s five times the Tag Heuer Diamond Fiction) but sometimes less is more!

There are a number of luxury jewelry brands out there, some worthy of their inflated price tags, some not. Baccarat certainly fit the former category, offering high end luxury jewelry for very reasonable prices.

Take a look at this elegant pendant retailing for a very reasonable $650 (£360):

Baccarat say:

“Mesmerizing in its sheer beauty, Baccarat’s Hypnotic pendant hangs from a rich black velvet cord. Exquisitely handcrafted, this spellbinding symbol holds a captive eye in luminescent yellow scarabee. Finished with an 18k yellow gold bale and clasp.”

• Yellow scarabee
• Full-lead crystal
• 18k yellow gold bale and clasp
• Black velvet cord
• Pendant measures 1.2” x 1.75”
• Packaged in Baccarat’s red jewelry box
• Made in France

We have previewed some luxury HD compatible products on Lussorian but what actually is it.

Sony provide the most succinct and comprehensible definition:

“The term used to describe TVs which can display digital high-definition TV formats then connected to a separate HDTV tuner. These TVs will display both 720p and 1080i HD formats, have both analogue component and digital HDMI connectivity and at least 720 lines.”

Now you know!

This functional but excellent CD player would make the ideal luxury Christmas gift. With sleek, contemporary looks the Chord range of components make a nice change from the ubiquitous Bose or Bang and Olufsen.

The top loading CD mechanism is set within a solid die cast body, which sections off the player from the other components contained within. This keeps distortion to an absolute minimum.

The system includes RCA and XLR balanced analogue outputs, plus BNC SPDIF coaxial digital ensures compatibility with a wide variety of audio systems.

Quite simply a great little sound system by anyone’s standards.
