A completely original way of storing your books is the Bookworm Bookends. In my opinion, a wonderfully stylish and unique, book storage idea.

You’ll probably find it a real talking point for house guests too.

Retailing at myownspace.com for $359 (£190) it is described as follows:

Quite frankly luxury toilet paper is a bit of gimmick in my view. As long as it’s soft, strong and thoroughly absorbent then you’re really not going to be bothered about whether your toilet paper has gold leaf or fancy coloured decoration on it. After all, it’s all heading down the pan at the end of the day!

Nonetheless, Renova believe there is a market for luxury toilet paper and have produced a line in paper rolls that come in four different colours.

Retailing at $13 to $20 for a three pack they are said to offer a “soft and silky experience”.

Am I missing the point here?

Ok, I have to say that this is so bling it’s simply awful, but it is luxurious and therefore we at Lussorian have slavishly reported it. Is it the most expensive TV in the world? Quite possibly.

According to playfuls.com:

“This luxury television appeared at the Berlin consumer electronics fair IFA with a retail price of 100,000 euros (130,000 dollars), “

“The LCD panel from Italian maker Keymat Industries is plated with white gold and studded with 4 grams of diamonds.

Keymat, which said IFA was the first non-Italian fair where the model from its Yalos range was shown, added that US and Saudi buyers had already shown interest. IFA runs until Wednesday.

Last week, a German hi-fi magazine demonstrated at IFA what it described as the world’s most expensive music system.

In an annual demonstration of what a hi-fi lover would love to own, Audio magazine borrowed equipment worth 750,000 euros (975,000 dollars) to assemble the sound system which includes a 220-kilogram record-player costing 125,000 euros.”

The TV may not be my cup of tea but the mention of a $975,000, assembled sound system is really a mouth watering prospect.

I think the answer to this is a resounding yes and there are murmurings that reference to local celebrities is a well worn tactic used by brokers and agents to elevate prices and increase local desirability. But how much can the celebrity effect elevate real estate values. It’s a tricky variable to measure but as a qualified chartered surveyor with over a decade of property experience behind me I would make an educated guess of around 10% to 20%. Quite a sizeable chunk of value.

Is this because agents and brokers are making greater capital out of celebrity? I would say so. Read this excellent extract from CountryLife.co.uk by Carla Passino:

“Leaning towards me, the estate agent lowered his voice to a confidential murmur.
‘Hugh and Jemima live nearby, you know,’ he said. Huh? I had asked whether the area was safe—being often on my own, I am obsessed by safety. What did I care if two of his friends lived close by? Taking me for dim-witted, he slowly repeated: ‘H-u-g-h and J-e-m-i-m-a. Round the corner,’ with a self-satisfied grin.

Faced once more with blank incomprehension, he valiantly tried again: ‘Hugh Grant?’

Aha! It finally dawned on me. This specimen belonged to the increasingly common estate agent species that sells a property on the back of names. Once, they used to quote the distance to the nearest tube station. Now, it’s the distance to the nearest celebrity (rigorously called by first name, to imply some kind of acquaintance).”

Bling, bling, bling. It’s everywhere these days but this bling generation cell phone named the Goldvish Illusion really excels where no other product has gone before.

image

Heralded as the “ultimate luxury phone” the Goldvish is made from 18k gold and set within high quality diamonds. The phone itself incorporates quad band technology (sounds great but not excatly sure what that means).

Goldvish say:

“The fusion of exclusive Swiss watch making and high end luxury brand.”

GoldVish offers 15 different versions which retail up to a cool million dollars.
